Finally finished rebuilding my DT!

I wish I hadn't listened to the reefer who stated that you have to reseal or rebuild the entire tank if replacing a panel. I tried to reseal the old but there was a noticeable line between the old and new so I decided to cut out all the seems. This I'm afraid was a big mistake. I have had great difficulty trying to learn how to caulk aquarium joints. My last seem finally went pretty well. Nice and smooth on the inside but like every other seem there are multiple bubbles.
I will never build or fix another DT again!

Getting ready to test sealing and the drain so I can design my sump. I'm going to hold a test for at least 2 weeks maybe month. I'm so busy with work I don't have time to work on anything. I worked 66 hours last week and 58 this week.

I did a functional mock up plumbing to determine how much back flow in the event of a power failure. Also started fill testing the tank. 1/3 full now

I have the tank backwards to build out the controller board, wiring, sump, and plumbing.
I will be holding the fill test until the underside is complete which I expect to take 1 to 2 months with the amount of hours I'm working.

My tank is full and not leaking! I determined that with the current plumbing configuration and my return nozzles 2 1/2" below the Eurobracing I have an emergency flow back of 12 gallons. Now I can finalize the design of my custom 7 chamber sump and start building it. I plan to keep the water level up to the weir until the sump and control board and the remaining work left to do on the stand are finished. It will probably take me 2 or 3 months with the hours I've been working.

I have a bacterial bloom already! No salt, nothing but tap water and the used aquarium glass that's been dry for 5 months. All plumbing and pump used to test the water level backfill to the sump are new. Seems strange, the tank has only been wet for 1 week.

That seems very odd!

Right......I expected it after a few weeks maybe but not so quick. I think I may post a separate thread to discuss it. I'll have to take a picture when I get home

Out of curiosity, do you know what the TDS number is on your tap water?

I just thinking that the glass had bacteria that came back to life when wet. Also I picked up a set of Maxspect 350s and was playing with the flow a little but still nothing that have marine bacteria except the 5 months dry glass.

This is Detroit and we haven't exactly been known for the best water! Side note: Detroit supplies water to Flint!

Yup, I remember when that whole Flint water thing hit the news. It seems it wasn't really that long ago. Actually, it couldn't have been that long ago because then I wouldn't remember it! Lol
It would be interesting to get a bacterial test done on your tap water. Especially given the idea of the "fast" bloom in your tank.
