The hair algae is nearly all gone on its own and I’ve been left with some cyano. My reef cleaners order came in, I got the 50 gallon package, I believe, and added a Pom Pom crab since they were in stock. My LFS has always copper treated all new arrivals for 2 weeks and they had a white tail bristletooth in stock. I asked about it and if they were still quarantining and the employee told me they stopped quarantining new arrivals. So I won’t be purchasing any livestock from them. I’ll continue with stocking from quarantined vendors. I don’t mind treating fish but don’t want to deal with copper treating. They also had some big black widow anemones 8” +, but my LTA hasn’t done well since switching tanks so I don’t think a new anemone is going to work until I get stable. 70 percents of my rock volume is from my previous tank but the new arches and sand are getting some uglies. The cyphastrea has started encrusting my frag rack and the other corals are nearly there as well. Going to start dosing Tropic Marin All For Reef.

Did you pick your corals up locally or order them and have them shipped? Either way where did you get them?

TSA’s live sale this weekend, shipped. Not really a fan of the sales but I have a lot of barren real estate. I wanted to get some more testing corals for cheap the anacropora I got as a $10 loose clipping when I ordered the elegance and toadstool is doing well and showing growth and if the montis start growing out I’ll get some confidence for battlecorals, and more goniopora, maybe a yellow torch. Alk is holding steady @ 8 dosing all for reef still getting fluctuations on nitrate (3 - 8)and Po4(.05 - .08) but nothing too bad.

I've had amazing success with the cheap acro frags from AquaSD and from local reefers.

They thrive, encrusting and growing vertically and have great color while my montipora (other than digitata) just melt. I wouldn't be afraid to try acros if they're what you like better.

I’ve seen that random types of corals seem to never do well for random people. I am kind of throwing a bunch of randomness in and trying to see what will do well. Once I see my alk stays consistent for a good amount of time I’ll get into some acros.

Yeah. My alk stays consistently high with the reef crystals, like 11.5 dkh. Almost everything loves it, Acros, LPS, zoas, gorgonians, anemones, even sponges. Just not the monti caps or encrusting montis, and for whatever reason green hairy mushrooms. All the other mushrooms (ricordea, Rhodactis, and discosoma) thrive, but not green fuzzy shrooms. Haven't tried any leathers in this tank, but I prefer the acros to the leathers anyways, so probably wont.

Tank has settled in and I don’t believe I have any algae in display right now, just aptasia, see how long that lasts. My fish I ordered online went into quarantine on February 9th so I’m awaiting my shipping email. When they come in I’m going to put the large clown in an acclimation box and add some more rockwork, still chases the wrasse but nothing serious and no damage on the wrasse.

New fish are done with quarantine and hopefully ship out this week! Chaeto died out a few weeks ago but the refugium is full of hair algae and I think I’m just going to let it go better down there anyway. Current photos.

Ordered 2 months ago from dr. Reefs but fish finally arrived. Good packing quality and live fish, the hawkfish seemed normally stressed but started to color up right away. Betta seems unfazed, starting acclimation and will put them in my acclimation box after. For acclimation I bag float for 20 minutes then check shipping salinity to figure out how long to drip for the website says they ship at 1.024 I believe, if true this shouldn’t take long to acclimate.

Fish are out of the acclimation box now and there hasn’t been any aggression. Before I took them out I fed them some live ghost shrimp and the betta showed off a dramatic feeding response, I should have filmed it, but it trapped the shrimp in a corner with its tail and when the shrimp would focus on the tail they got inhaled. The hawkfish just paraded the shrimp around. Added more rock work hoping to get the betta to take to unclaimed territory, but he spent his day attacking his reflection instead.

Cruise control for the past few weeks getting new heads on acans and all corals are doing well. The Betta isn’t taking to frozen foods so I’ve been having to feed ghost shrimp but that has only been once every 4 days, and his new cave is under the frag rack. Getting great coralline coverage. Lost a stylo but I think it’s because it’s at the entrance to a cave where the peppermints live as nothing else seems stressed. It still has a couple polyps so I’ll give it time before I consider it a lost cause.

Hows your tank going , I realize it's been a few months since last update !
I'm planning a 75 g setup this fall when wife goes back to work at school and was admiring your work
