I've had the little clam in my sand bed with a small piece of rock rubble under it. When I come to check on it, it's knocked over on its side. Should I just wedge it securely in the sand?

I've got a baby maxima also. The larger maximas, over 2in, I place mid tank. The ones under 2in I place in my frag rack in the top half of the tank. If he's falling over than yeah push a little into the sandbed.

I used a piece of coral rubble about the size of a plum cut in half then I took my dremel tool and wallowed a dip in the center till it was kinda like a large thumb print and smoothed down the level of the sides some keeping in mind how the clam was shaped and how I wanted it to sit slightly tilted for viewing from the front of the tank put the clam in it and it attached within an hour and has been "happy as a clam" for several months now I did this because I will be changing tanks in a few months and didn't want it attached to rockwork making it harder to move hth

Nice! It's my first one. Trying to learn all about their care. It's not open very much.

They'll close the moment they feel an increase in pressure. Too much current or too much activity close?

May be current, I have my mp10 running on reef mode at 50 percent since I have some sps. I have a 30 gallon, should I decrease flow?

If you wanna keep your flow at that level find a spot on your rock work where the flow is minimal. Otherwise yeah they don't like current.

Well they require the basics, good water, low flow, strong lighting, good food. Process of elimination says current. Upon reducing the current he should open fairly quickly... as much as mine anyways.

Can you show a pic if how much yours is open? Do they open more when lights on?

You couldn't see the photo I posted of mine? Here it is... They'll stay open the same amount light or dark unless they sense danger. What lighting are you using?
