Maxima question.........?????

Ok, so I have had my maxima for about a year now, and have had no problems. Friday during my routine maintenence, I noticed some clear jelly like substance on the clam, on the shell to be exact, but when I touched it , it came right off. This has me worried something may be wrong as I have never had this happen before. Any thoughts or ideas as to what it may be. Not noticed it anywhere else in the tank though......:squigglemouth:

I believe it is from the byssal threads/gland...maybe it is just trying to move. I am no expert but thats my thought - Hopefully Skinz will add some advice!

it has attached its self to a old shell and i buried it in the sand and it has been that way for almost a year. I hope skinz tells me what it is......and thanks for your advice bro!

At first glance around the net it doesnt seem too bad...here is an article that mentions it a few times towards the bottom. Has some other decent info too Care of Tridacnid Clams, Giant Clam Care and Clam Facts

Sorry I missed this yesterday. Can you post a pic of the jelly? Sounds to me like it might be snail eggs, what kinds of snails do you have in the tank?

I have some mexican turbos and some nassarius. thats it. I am at work but will try to get a pic. It is a clear jelly substance kind on the lower edge of the shell, close to the byssal filaments that he has in a shell..... will try, like I said it comes off easily.....
