CO2 bottle ran out on my CA reactor, just realized it, and my alk is some where between 5 and 5.8 dKH!!

Raising today with baking Sosa and quickly looking to discern a maximum recommend daily shift.

How does everything look right now? If all is well then there is no real time limit on it, just go slow. Are you sure that test kit is accurate?

Everything looks normal, real good in fact. Newer RS alk test. I trust it.

I knew when the bottle ran out that I'd see a drop (they ought to call a CA reactor and alk reactor instead) but not so much so fast.

My calculator say 40g of baking Soda will get me close to 7 dKH (210gal), which I'm cooking now and will mix into a gal of RO to drip into the evening....

Cool?

I see now in another recent post 1dkh per day max. So, I guess I'll half my planned dose.

A routine can be key sometimes. The numbers might be off, but if nobody is complaining then there's nothing wrong. GL. :)

If it is really that low, I'd boost it over less time than if it started at 7 dKH, because it is also stressful to be at 5 dKH. Maybe 2 days max.

Hmmm.

Current reading 5.6 dkh.

I must be dosing pretty close to consumption perhaps, as this is only .2 increase over yesterday?

Dosing a little more now, back to my original estimate, 40g baking soda into 210gal over 24hrs.

Ca at 440 still.

Reasonable Randy, or more?

Assuming the kit is accurate, that's reasonable. :)

Seven dkh this morning. Hope that's not too much too fast. Tank was dark so I couldn't tell how things were doing.

Everything looks good. It was 7.6 dKH this evening. Started another gallon dripping with 48g of baking soda. Should have my CO2 tomorrow evening. It's been interesting...
