Once the apex restores power to the controller and pump, will it go back to the original setting or would the pump even turn on at all?

Do you have to push the power button on the pump controller once power is restored or does it all just fire back up?

Nope; nothing manual to do. It all just turns back on. The Gyre is very Apex-friendly, in my experience. With the IceCap module (one per gyre), you can get full control of the flow. But even without it, you can use the power on/off for gross control and it all works as you would expect.

The advanced controller is on my list of toy this year. I like how one can set different speeds and modes for different times of the day and night and with the apex one can turn it off.

Not totally sure where you are at in terms of things, but I wanted to throw some thoughts out there:
- The only difference between the 100 and 200 series of gyres (that I know about) is in the controller and cable length (newer have longer cables).
- Thus; the 100 series pumps work with the 200 series controller, so long as they are the same size (130+230 and 150+250, but not 130+250 nor 150+230).
- The 100 series controller has some profiles and options; just not as many as the 200 can have via it's customization.
- The 100 series controller worked with an Apex the same way as the 200 in terms of power on/off control.
- The 100 series controller controls one gyre; the 200 controls up to two out of the box.

The path I took was to get a 150 first. Then, later, I picked up a 250. I now run them both off the 250 controller, plugged into my Apex. The "150" gyre is closer to my control point due to it's shorter cord.

I would imagine (but have not looked, to be honest) that you may be able to find 100-series pumps cheaper than 200-series. So if you need two gyres (which is great for creating that alternating gyre current), I'd suggest looking into something like that to same some money.

It's a slippery slope, by the way. I've got the 200-series controller, and now two IceCap modules are on my shopping list... **sigh**

Quick question about plugging the controller into the Apex. Will the controller power back on where it left off in the programming time? What I mean by that is let's say the controller has 3 hours left in the programming until the controller lowers the pump power to 20% or so for night mode. If the apex shuts it off for 10 minutes for feeding and powers it back on, will the controller recognize it was off for 10 minutes and now there is only 2 hours 50 minutes left in the programming or will it think it still has 3 hours left? I would think if it doesn't, after a few days you would have to reset the controller because the times will be all messed up as far as night mode and such.

Yes; it will.
The programming works via a clock - not a countdown. Eg; the programming is more like "20% at 2:00, 0% at 4:00, ..." than it is "20% for 2hrs". When the power is turned back on, the program checks the current time against the program to find out where it's supposed to be.

Update: I have all my equipment up and running (except lights, i'm cycling) and I plugged the gyre controller to my apex. I have the Maxspect controller on Lunar Tidal mode which is a pre programmed 24 hour cycle for the gyre. During "feed A" mode on the apex, it shuts off the gyre pump as well as the protein skimmer and return pump. After feed mode, the gyre powers back on and continues back to the preset mode as well as it doesn't lose time so it will always be on track!!! Gives my tank great flow

There is a SD card in there too, You can import and export settings. Is there some PC software to make your Flows on there that would be alot easier

Are you sure about this? When I powered off the gyre, the day indicator resets back to D1... And on D1, I don't think flow reaches the max setting.

I was curious about this exact issue. I have the icecap module now for my 250 gyre, but I have heard it doesn't have the same amount of flow (power) compared to having the advanced controller. So i was going to buy the advanced controller IF when feed mode is enabled on the apex, and once it resumes, the gyre with the advanced controller will not lose the memory and resume where it left off. I had some old jebaos that once i hit feed mode on the apex, once it resumed, they would lose the night mode and run whichever mode it was on and not slow down during the night.

I haven't been able to get an answer out of anyone about the status of the ICV6 <> Apex 2016 functionality. At this point, it's been two MACNA's since they said it's coming (and briefly demo'd at 2016), who knows if it will ever see the light of day.

My SYNA-G app is showing that it’s been updated and now has basic Gure control. Anyone noticed this and figure do it how to make it work?

I just downloaded the firmware update and completed on the Gyre controller. I also updated the Syna g app. I know the update took on the gyre controller cause screen goes into sleep mode after 30 seconds and the font changed. Oddly the syna g app still can't "find" my gyre controller. Maybe I need to update the ICV6 controller too? I just put in a ticket with Coralvue and will check the version of firmware currently running on ICV6 and followup. Need to be careful with this as coralvue states downloading wrong firmware update can brick your controller.

I did the same and can’t see my Gyre in the app either. Latest firmware for both Gyre and ICV6. Don’t know if there’s something that needs to be done on the Gyre controller to activate wireless or something along those lines? Please let us know if you hear anything from Coralvue. Thx!

If the Syna-G gyre support is finally being implemented, judging by the app it seems so and going by what is being said elsewhere, ICV6 support should be coming to the Apex soon™. There may finally be light at the end of the tunnel for those with the new Gyre controller and a 2016 Apex.
