I have a Maxspect Sk-800 Protein Skimmer that has been running for around two years. The axle on the magnetic drive shaft has cracked. Not really sure how when I took it out to do maintenance it was broken off at the magnet. Does anyone know where I could find a replacement or have one available? I contact BRS and was told they did not currently have any but the cost of the part was $192, which seems prohibitively high to me. Not really sure where else to post this though I would see if anyone had one or had a similar issue. I am in the Phoenix, AZ in the USA. I see website in the UK that have the part for less than half the cost here.

People pay top dollar for this type of equipment and a simple part isn't available. This is discouraging. I was interested in this skimmer. Not sure I would buy one now . . .

I would not personally do it again. I had something similar come up for a gyre. Just needed the little red rubber gasket piece. Maxspect directed me to BRS, then BRS directed me back to Maxspect. Too difficult sourcing parts for their stuff.
