Was not aware that they could get ich. I think they are hardy once you understanf the conditions needed for them. Just like any other oddball or pred there is just a certain amount of knowledge needed before keeping them. Mine seems to be thriving,I think I'm going to add some coral into his tank.

These fish are so interesting to me (Frogs & Anglers ) . They don't swim they don't walk. They do both. They are evolving into land animals or back to the sea maybe. All very cool. Who knows in a few 10 Millions of years, long after we are gone they may leave the sea forever !

Here's one of painted's tank with live coral. The vid is his nightly swim after the whites went out, what a crack up, he rarely stuck the landing. They don;t seem to like very bright light, lps lighting seems fine, so providing overhangs and caves for the daylight hours is a plus. LPS corals seem to appreciate the nutrients.

That is a nice looking painted. I currently only have t8s on his tank so was going to go with zoas/mushrooms. I would like to have more rock in the tank but had to pull out all of it except two pieces so that I could feed him. Otherwise he was so cryptic that I would almost never see him
