Melafix and protein skimmer

I added some melafix to my 225 gallon fish tank and my protein skimmer went crazy and started overflowing, it's been off for 2 days and I have not added anymore melafix. But, when I turn the skimmer on it instantly fills up. How long will it be before the melafix leaves and I can turn the skimmer back on with no problems?

Water changes and carbon for days are the only way to work it out . Just turn the skimmer wide open and you will be able to slowly get it tuned to where it was. If it has a drain, drain it to the tank or sump.
