Hey all,
Got my dream fish five days ago, a nice large male Melanurus Wrasse. I posted here about how it was hiding, which many people do. I need more reassurance. I have not seen it in days. This morning, I woke up to see it laying upright on the sandbed. I tried feeding it mysis, but it promptly dug back into the sandbed. This fish was newly collected when I purchased it. But the LFS convinced me to buy it because they sell so quickly so it was a now or never situation. I hear that these fish are sometimes caught using cyanide and sometimes collected so deep that they develop swim bladder issues when improperly brought to the surface. However, I cannot see how this is the case as the fish survived a global shipping event, two acclimations to a new tank, and still has the power to launch itself into the sandbed. It does not appear to be a neuro issue because of the way it can power its way deep into the bed. However, I may be totally incorrect.

Do you guys think he is okay? I am a little worried about a 4" fish dying in the sandbed of my newer tank...
