I picked up an Ultra Maxima a few days and my wrasse has been picking at him a bit. I haven't seen any chunks or nips missing out of his mantle and the clam seems happy. Are wrasses known for bothering clams? I had one in the past which I lost due to a large alk overdose when my dosing pump got stuck on but my wrasse never bothered him

They'll definitely inspect closely for pyramidal snails, and may even flip the clam over to pick them off if they're found.

I've had one eat chunks of the mantle of my clams. took him out to another tank and tried another clam there and he never touched it for some reason.
now I have a pair of Melanurus in the tank with 10 clams and no issues.
