Funny thing about Eddie and Alex Van Halen.... Alex originally was playing guitar and Eddie got the drum set. Alex took it away, so Eddie said "Fine I will play your f*** guitar"

And thus was born the VH duo that lasted for the entire lifetime of Eddie. It was stated once that Eddie had "never played with another drummer" I'm sure that a few people played with him, but nothing serious. Likewise for Alex. The bond between them obviously transcends music.
