What is the element uptake like from all the clams?!

About 1.3dKH a day I believe. I keep my alkalinity around 10dKH.

I think most of my consumption is from the coralline. Most of my clams are pretty small, so I’m not seeing any crazy consumption yet.

I dose 240mL of my alkalinity additive with a doser around the clock.

Clams are life!

I am open to the idea of adding a squamosa to my tank in the future. I never saw one at my LFS, but I will ask and keep my eyes peeled.

I know one has a few croceas. Squamosas remind me of spaghetti squash. I don’t know why.

A Squamosa is my dream clam (Aside from Gigas but who has a tank for that just lying around hey), but a Deresa is good enough for now. That green Squamie is a stunner though, if only we found them in LFSs more often.

With 10 clams aren’t you worried what a sperm event can do to your tank? It only takes one to possibly set off the rest, it’s not a small amount.

While we’re on the topic of clams, did you QT your clams before putting into your DT? Concerned about bringing in fish disease on their shells, similar to frag plugs but they have more real estate to occupy.

No, I stopped quarantining corals/inverts. I’m not really concerned with fish diseases anymore. I do believe QT is best practice though, so I would never tell someone to copy me.

Found it. I have his book: highly informative.

I’m going to head to bed soon but I do intend to watch the video tomorrow around 5am when my cat wakes me up.

Does the video have information about the clam mass spawning risk?

I was listening to it as I was moving my mimosa back where it used to be. Yes, he mentions spawning event and how a clam can send out millions of sperm.
