I got these new zoas from a local reefer as ‘Miami Vice’. They opened up and look very similar to my frostbites (from Zoanthids.com so 100% correct ID). What do y’all think? @tnewell

100% Frostbite

They are likely a morph of each other, but the "true" blue in the first pics you posted makes me think Miami vice, the frostbite appear to have a softer blue and less defined mouth.
I was thinking more Miami Vice just because the skirt looks more dark blue to me than the dark green of a frostbite

There was an article on the miami vice and other strains from Florida in like reef hobbyist or some other reefing magazine (I’m sure you can find the article not too many magazines related to reefing) they’re all just morphs of each other the Miami vice strain morphs easily... the “frostbite zoa” i have and it was sold to me under the “tai pei vice” Alias lol while they’re all technically different color wise yes, I m not convinced we’re keeping good track of them lol especially when some vendors acquire them and rename them and slap a new price tag on it.... however I believe it’s closer to a Miami vice, but still looks slightly morphed

Thank you! I was kind of speculating that the frostbites and miami were the same at some point and just happened to morph for somebody who re-named it and sold it for more money. Zoas morph all the time, I’ve actually got some radioactive dragon eyes right now that are developing a lot of pink in a pattern similar to pink minefield zoas! I think it’s really cool how they can morph but also kind of annoying because we end up with two zoas that look super similar like the Miami Vice and Frostbite or Halle Berry and Cry Baby and I really think that they should be called the same name because they’re not different enough to warrant a whole new name and price tag
