Hello fellow reefers,
I'm currently in the process of starting a breeding tank for micro brittle stars. If you don't know what those are, they are the small, brown brittle stars that dangle their legs out of your live rock. These detritivores are the best clean up crew in my opinion. As mentioned, I am starting a breeding program for these guys and I will be selling them. I'll post a separate forum for the waiting list and link it here as well. If you would like to be put on the waiting list, simply comment on the linked forum below.

Below is a pic of the breeding tank I set up. Its not much, just a 20 gal bare bottom with a hang on back filter. I will update here and on the waiting list forum when I have a batch ready to ship. I picked about 15 out of my display tank today and placed in the breeder tank. :)

Don’t they like to burrow under the sand?

How will you trap them?

I either gently pull them out with my fingers or tweezers or I lure them out with a piece of shrimp. I make sure I am very careful with them when I handle them.

Is there anyway you can find one and take of picture of it?

Still considering it because my local fish store sells each one of these for 30$!

oh my gosh! thats crazy! is it the micro stars or the regular 12" ones???

Wow who knew there was a market. I usually kill quite a few every time I clean my pumps. I try and save a few but every time I drop the them in vinegar more pop off. Even if you don't need powerheads in the tank might want to consider sticking 1 or 2 in. I always have a ton in mine.

My local fish store has hermit crabs for 8$ each!
