Will micro bubbles from a skimmer screw with parameters the way an airstone in a tank would?

micro bubbles are unsightly but fine.

how do airstones mess up the parameters? just curious as I've never heard of this and I do use airstones sometimes...

The only parameter that comes to mind could possibly be a rise in ph due to higher O2 levels. Other than that the bubbles are just pain.
Yeah, that’s what I’m wondering. Maybe the alkalinity was an odd relationship in my own head, but wouldn’t alkalinity relate to ph?

It’s been a long long time since I took organic chemistry in college 🤣🤣

What is your alk level? Has it changed since the micro bubbles started?

It’s around 11. And I don’t have the skimmer on right now, so what was happening was that every time I did a wc, it I would get the bubbles when I turned the skimmer back on. Usually it only lasted an hour or two and then settled down. But a few weeks ago it was still going almost a day later and it was irritating my hammer. So I shut it off completely. I’d like to try to get it back up and running but I was just curious if there was any other lasting effects other than coral irritation.

Honestly, it’s a biocube and Coralife has done pretty good with all their equipment except for their skimmer. I know it’s a known issue with other reefers, and I could probably get away without it but I’d rather have it than not. I wish there was a better one that fit without hood modifications.
