Microscope ID help

Not sure what these are in the videos below, help appreciated.

Background: this morning, a number of snails in my tank suddenly released a bunch of cloudy stuff into the water. They are acting fine, and all corals also acting fine. On close inspection I now see a ton of these little organisms in the water now that i havent seen before. I initially thought maybe it was a snail spawning event, but this doesn't look like snail larvae? Could it be a snail parasite?

What? Can you clarify? You think the worms seen on the microscope slides are waste from the snails? That doesn't really make sense

Those look like segmented worms. That rules out snail larva and nematodes. Snails do serve as intermediate host for some parasites, but they often have a three tiered life cycle; snail - fish - bird

I don't know much about them because they don't fulfill their live cycle in aquariums, so really arent a disease concern.

Those look like segmented worms. That rules out snail larva and nematodes. Snails do serve as intermediate host for some parasites, but they often have a three tiered life cycle; snail - fish - bird

I don't know much about them because they don't fulfill their live cycle in aquariums, so really arent a disease concern.

As of posting this, there are significantly fewer visible worms in the water column now... no idea what triggered this, no new additions recently and all corals, fish, and inverts are doing well... just wanted to make sure it wasn't a new parasite that somehow was have a life cycle stage in the snails? But I've had the same snails for ~9 months and never seen this before. The white cloudy stuff definitely seemed to be coming from the snails. Maybe both a snail spawning event and some sort of worm breeding event at the same time? Triggered by moon cycle??? No ideas ha

Not waste but from the snails who may carry them along

Did you spell that correctly, I didn’t find any match except your post (grin).

Could be a lunar breeding coincidence, there is a full moon tonight.

Could be a lunar breeding coincidence, there is a full moon tonight.

Sorry, missed a letter, "gallardoneris". Not much info other than being on a worm registry, related to bristleworms. I do have a lunar cycle synced on my AI prime

I don’t know that genus, but there are no common fish parasites in the segmented worm group that don’t have sucker-like mouths (leeches).

Interesting. They've mostly disappeared but I'll get a better sample with a closer look at the mouth next time (wife took the videos above while i was at work...).
