Yes I am running an external skimmer; and have a sump. Here are some pictures. I put several sheets of nori in the tank, some on clips and some tied to rocks. I soaked them in selcon ahead of time. The only trouble I saw was my foxface chasing a flame fin tang; that's why he was in confinement.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the state of the fish. The cloudy skin and sloughing is indicative of marine velvet, which has been known to kill fish very quickly. The deaths could easily explain the mini cycle shown through ammonia/nitrite.

We're the fish quarantined before entering your tank?

I wouldn't put too much stock in the state of the fish's skin ... they also get to look like that when they've been lying on the bottom for a while, gently attended by hermit crabs and Nassarius . . .

Agreed though, that the presence of dead fish is almost certainly the source of a lot of that ammonia / nitrite.

I did notice that one fish had a semi-cloudy appearace. Needless to say, I need to establish a good QT process before, or if, I continue.

Thanks.

Don't give up yet. It's a lesson learned. I naively skipped QT when I had a biocube. By the time I set up a 60 cube I knew better and started a light QT. Not as good as I should have but thankfully I didn't learn the lesson the hard way, just by continuing to read. Once my 220 is up I'll have a complete TTM setup and the 60 cube will be long term 6 week plus post TTM QT.

Again, just go slow. By your sig it looks like you have a good setup. Just be patient and you'll be fine.
