Hey everyone,
I am experiencing my first bout with Dinos. Woohoo!
One thing I saw recommended was adding a UV filter. Has anyone ever tried one of these in tank UV filters like this one Mini UV on the jungle web site? This or similar would fit in the back of my UNS 35a all in one and is affordable but I am not sure it has enough power at 8.2 watts to make a difference.
Any thoughts?

Yes, people have tried them. Coralife makes one for their biocube and Aquatop, is another. There are numerous products available for various sellers online, however most of them have the same issue... size and flow.

Adding UV alone is not effective, as is the UV with a slower rate for pathogens and a higher rate for algae. Many are geared for faster than slower and their pumps will be one of the limiting factor, as is placement. Most professional options choose to separate the UV from the sump to the display, ensuring only 100% UV treated water is allowed into the display from the water column.

TBH, unless you have a large tank, there are other ways to address Dinos.

Thank you. I wasn't crazy about adding more equipment anyway.
I am just beginning my battle. To start I have turned the white light to zero and reduced the lighting period a few hours. I started dosing phytoplankton and I have ordered a nitrate supplement as my nitrates are 0.0 (phosphate is 0.04) . Increased feeding wasn't helping the nitrates as I only have 2 fish and a few inverts.

Yes, one must watch the nitrates and phosphates from bottoming. I honestly think this is one of the hardest things for all reefers, everywhere. Patience is the key here and sometimes, budgets and moments don't always align for opportunities and new additions.

I may suggest to consider carbon dosing of some type, once you establish some nitrates. Maybe wait on water changes. Do also consider the addition of such in pods, etc. with the phytoplankton.
