Great update. The tank looks wonderful, and that BTA is gorgeous.
Thanks. I got the Black Widow BTA at a show in the Spring of 2023. I was concerned I over paid for it, but it was beautiful. The oral disk (it's face) is super dark. But now that it has spun off 4 offspring, I couldn't care less about what I paid for it!

Going for the jaimacan style reef!! No fish cuz the natives eat em to survive. Plenty of coral tho. They cant eat those i reckon.
Funny! Maybe that should be the popular name for minimalist reefs like mine. It sure is a lot easier to care for.

"Minimalist reefer", that has been me for 22 years. 😚 This definitely should be part of the forums.
I agree! I think there is a place in the reef world where a tank with less equipment and run with less expense and maintenance has a valid place. It would showcase the foundational biology so new reef keepers could learn. Macroalgae and inverts could be focal points in some minimalist reefs. It would not appeal to everyone but I am sure there are folks it would appeal to.

I just transferred my 56g display with 30g sump into a new standard Aqueon 75g that is sumpless. It is filtered with an AquaClear 110 that has mostly rubble rock in it (unless I need media to polish the water or lower nutrients). It has a heater and 3 powerheads and that is it. The live rock, sand, macroalgae, and water changes do the rest. It has glass tops to reduce evaporation and mostly prevent carpet surfers. Its so simple and clean.
