I'm in my first tank build and I am planning to section off the end of the stand with a side door for access. This is to initially house a surge protector and then down the road I would like to get into controllers.

What do you think the minimum depth can be? Can I get away with 6 inches or so?

If your talking how much room in that area, I'd factor the whole vertical length for space.

Vertical clearance is about 30 inches. My concern is being able to close the doors

I think he means how deep does the space have to be front to back after you open a side door to access it.

Got it. 6" might be a little tight. I'd try at least 8"?

Hmm yeah I think 8 would definitely be fine. It's a game of inches. I was hoping for 6 or 7. I guess I need to spec out equipment. Just not sure I what I want yet.

Anyone care to show off their slim cabinets?
