From what I can gather from this picture, you put the bag of salt in the brute can and let the RO/DI fill it up slowly.

Just to be sure, next time fill up the brute with water first, then measure the correct amount of salt and add it to the water. When mixing that much at a time I usually mix 1 cup less than what the directions say and adjust from there.

yup that is what I did.
not sure why I am not new to this was thinking it did not matter for 1st fill. who knows what I was thinking its been a very long slow build so much of be spaced out.

You may be able to recover it by letting it settle until it is totally clear with no flow, and measuring to see how much alk and calcium is needed. the uncertainty is how much of what else got taken down with the precipitate (trace and minor elements, for example).

so after a cpl hours of no flow. its now clear. think I should just use it? for the cycle then do a large WC got balance out any Ca/alk/ mirco that got messed up?

or just mix new salt in the tank and get the # right from the get go?

Curious as to why you mix your salt this way in first place?
Just get a 50g Brute, fill it, add one of the 50g bags and get the salinity near perfect everytime. I do this with Fritz RPM 4pk

well I had the DT full of RODI and thought it best to pre mix the salt before adding it to the new tank so not to get the classic I.O residue on the new tank and pumps.
IDK why I added the salt first before making the RODI in the brute.

OK so I decided to dump out the brute of I.O salt and go ahead and mix it in the new tank with rock and sand.
any "best" practices besides have pumps on and start heating the water?

guessing I should add the salt pretty slow and not dump in the whole bucket eh?

I always set mine up that way. Add salt slowly over the course of a few hours.
