Hey everyone

I got this tank about 8 months ago from a friend. It was made in 2013. It has a large sock section with 2 6 inch socks. I hate changing the socks and I don't mind vacuuming out the sump with my wet/dry vac.
I finally have some free time and want to do a fun project.
I want to modify my sump to remove the sock holder and add a frag section. The thing is I have never worked with acrylic, silicon, or glass haha. Regardless I am not a total hack.

Any advice such as suggested materials, methods, tools, etc?
Thanks in advance!

The current sump. Not quite done wiring lol.

The acrylic is welded together and as far as I know you can't break that bond without breaking what the baffles/ sock holders. You can cut the acrylic free but it's not going to be very clean.

Yeah not pumped about that but I have accepted that. The part I’m more nervous about it glueing in the new baffle
