I'm sorry, but with this picture:

I just see a whole bunch of crap in the backyard. No cuteness in that.

Combined those dogs were 60lbs. (12, 14, 15, & 19lbs) Their poop wasn't even noticeable. Mowed right over it.

Did you mean:

fury - wild or violent anger.

OR

furry - covered with fur.

There is a slight difference! And oddly enough, cats fit both!:rolleyes:

And therein lies the problem!

This thread is a runaway train.

I go out for a couple hours and come back to four or five or more pages of posts. Do you know how much time I've spent reading, just to catch up?

Well that's quite the feat! My first boy Riley made it just short of 16 and was put down because of a myriad of health issues but a stage 5 heart murmur and failure being the finishing blow and my girl Casey had to be put down just short of 16 due to nose cancer. She would have had years left in her she could still leap several feet in the air as recently as one month before we had her put down. In 3 weeks the tumor and swelling tripled in size and an infection that could not be combated took control.

16.5 is great nicely done!
Sorry about your pups. Cancer sucks

The most frustrating thing is she is fine otherwise, minimal arthritis, great blood work. Just that stupid tumor..

But I am glad to have had her plug along this long.

We lost our other chihuahua close to two years ago. Congenital problem caught up with her at 8 years old. Too tiny to consider surgery.

I have three. One sucks 100%. Not mean but is a waste of space does not even want to be touched ever. Just complains and runs away and has no personality. The calico female is nice to me and the kid but hates other animals and hisses and growls at everything and is a witch, but I won't lie her spunk is somewhat amusing. My black cat is cool (for a cat) he likes people, attention, and hangs around. But he's a cat.

My dogs are all awesome. If a cat bites it's the cats fault. If a dog bites it's the owners fault.
Idk, most dogs are awesome, but they some spirited dogs out there.

As a "dog naz!", I assure you even the nastiest dogs are that way because of their upbringing and it can be curbed. When I worked at a vet, all of the NASTY dogs that bit all of the vets were given to me to bathe and trim their nails (when i was in highschool).

When I was done with the dog, I would return it to the owners licking my face and wagging its' tail. When asked "How did you get him to love you so much and not bite you??" I always replied "Don't worry about it... We have a mutual respect for one another at this point".

Dogs as a species look for direction and leadership. Aggression and most all bad behavior is a symptom of an absence of these things.

I generally agree with this, but there are some dogs that have a mental defect. There are dogs that no amount of training is gonna fix.

Define what you mean by mental defect?

Roughly 90% of aggression issues are the result of "fear biting" - this is a socially unstable dog that was often poorly socialized, abused, or has a scared demeanor. These animals can be rehabilitated. Of the remaining 10%, almost all of them are dogs that were bred or trained to be aggressive and are truly aggressive animals. Most of these can also be rehabilitated with lots of patience and time. I suppose there are a few dogs out there with mental issues but I would venture to guess that the preponderance of the animals labeled as such fall in to one of the categories above. But it is certainly possible that an animal is just chemically imbalanced although it is uncommon to see, IME

I have a mentally handicapped dog. It just takes extra time and you have to do things over and over and she will finally understand.

Springer Rage, comes to mind. Normal Springer Spaniel starts have outbursts of aggression.

IMO, an aggressive golden retriever has something wrong with it, beyond socialization issues.

Most cases are socialization issues, but there are dogs that no amount of training is gonna fix. they are the exception.

I've been a vet tech 16yrs, and trained dogs a couple before that, so this is my opinion based on what I have seen.
