Coral cost

My fiancé thinks I only spent a few hundred on my whole setup, it’s not that we don’t have much money but she hates if I spend more than a few hundred on something vs she spends hundreds on stuff without even trying. I’ve tried to explain that me spending a few hundred is nothing compared to her coming home with $40 in stuff every singe night from work.

Lol the only thing she ever bought me was my radion xr30 g3 pro on my birthday and that's the last thing I ever received in this hobby.

It depends on the coral but I normally say close to what it is. Sometimes I have to butter her up before hand to ease the news. She knows how expensive the hobby is and thankfully enjoys viewing the tank so we built in a budget to allocate.

All depends on the actual cost lol. If is less than $50 sure, if its $300 no....

In all reality, she doesn't care as long as I don't put us in a bind financially :)

A $200 hair appointment is essential ...
but a $200 coral isn’t ?

Afraid to answer on the condition I may incriminate myself because she may be lurking.

I took my wife and kids to Aquashella and Reefapalooza. She saw what those prices were and didn’t mind much. So I tell her those “real” prices when I get more fish or coral. I support paying my LFS’s a bit more, but she sees the “small ones” next to the others and does not even question it as she had an immersive price comparison those two days. Now, I am not getting home wreckers by any means, and if I do, it’s between 30-50 for the frag
I believe bringing her to the shows really helped with this aspect of the coral pricing. And the 2 she thought were pretty, I scooped em up without question, so that helps too.

everyone knows the formula on here for telling the wife the cost

Formula as follows -- (price of coral) - (your perceived price of coral) / 5 then subtract an additional 20 so the wife always thinks you get your corals for a "steal"

I took my husband to RAP and he thought the prices were ridiculous... of course, that was until he saw a skull with Lepto growing on it. I came back from the bathroom to see him standing there holding a big bag with a huge smile on his face.
Not exactly the look I was going for, but I found room for it in my 25.

Yes and the $50 bag of snails.

I never spend much more that $50 on a single coral. I don't have a large tank. I also bring in more money than her, pay the mortgage, house is still in my name. I also don't know the price of her Taylor Mini Guitar or the other guitar or the other guitar.

I do know the price of a decent supportive bra and I don't say anything about that...
