After 1 yr break finally got back into the hobby. Hopefully this will be my last tank build. My last tank was a redsea 425xl and it was sps dominated and everything was going well but tank look smaller and smaller everyday when i look at it then decide to break it down. So this time I will go with a 6ft tank since i will keep this for awhile. Tank will be delivered this week and hopefully I get my fish room installed with vinyl floor before I put the tank into place. Here is the list of what I have for the build please let me know if i still miss something. Build started beginning of October 2022 but didn't have a chance to do a build thread.

October 8th 2022

Got everything hook up to apex but the two Vortech on the left couldn’t reach to the controller board so have to order the extension wire for it. Beside that I will get this tank wet this weekend.

November 4th

I got 3 yellow tang and 1 purple tang in after the cycle and adding gem tang, achilles, and the powder blue last.

November 11th
Water Parameter
Ph 8.1-8.2
Alk 10 (using rc salt)
Calcium 520
Mag no clue
Ammonia 0
Phosphate 0.03
Nitrate 40ppm

I probably going to do a 30% water change this week to lower down Nitrate. And still waiting for alk to get lower to 8.5 then going to start adding corals. So far tested a green slimer and going to see how it goes. But that's it for the update.

December 11th

A little update for the build since holiday season is here so have to hold off some acros coming in. But water finally clearing up since had a bactial bloom. All parameters check and alk has been stable at 8.2-8.5dkh. So far no casualties on any of the acros. Now all about waiting game for the acros to grow.

January 7th 2023

The t5s it heats up the tank like crazy. My heater basically only kicks on at night time and day time it never goes on. I'm still using g5 with diffuser so right now it's 12" above water and 50% overall intensity. Still have room to blast it but have to check par level before I increase them. Can't wait til all my frags to become colony. Filling in nicely right now.

very nice. How did you space out those lights? I'm building the same tank and only using 3 XR30s, and two MP 40s. Maybe that's not enough?

You can get away with 3 xr 30 when the acros are still in frags but when they grow to colony it wouldn't have enough par spread for 350-500 range equally. I went with 5 xr30 because I bought the canopy from a friend and he have 5 xr30 mounted on. So since I already have 4 xr30 I just bought another one to fill the tank evenly. The light mount pretty high at 18" because of the canopy and with 50% overall intensity I get 250 on the sand bed and about 300-400 overall of the tank. If you go with 3 you can get the hybrid t5 for better par and spread. I got rid of my t5 hybrid fixture because it kept my tank too warm so don't want to run a chiller to cool it down. Two mp40 is ok if it's a new set up but when you fill it corals it's better with 4.

It's depend if your planning to go full sps or mixed reef. If mixed reef and planning to aim for 150-350 range you can get away with 3 xr30 but for flow you should do 4. With 5 xr30 on my set up it space the xr30 perpendicular every 12" and mount it pretty high at 18".
