I’ve been questioning my Hanna ca and mg tests recently since they’ve been going higher with my alkalinity consumption going up. Not crazy high, but 450ppm ca and 1550ppm mg dosing about 6ml a day in my nano just to keep dKH at 8.

On a whim, I picked up a Monitor brand ca/mg test kit. It’s a titration kit, and I was shocked that my results with it were within 20ppm of the Hanna tests. So if you’re looking for a cheaper test, it really seems to be inline with the Hanna checkers.

You are required to do some fairly simple math to determine the mg, but it’s not hard.
