Montipora Bleaching Water Flow Issue?

Hey all I haven't been able to find any posts that cover bleaching do to flow changes but I believe that's what's happening to my monti. The only change my tank has experienced in the last 2 weeks is the loss of a powerhead which I offset by increasing the the return pump speed.

The tank is an Innovative Marine 14.

I had a similar bleaching pattern when my alkalinity went up from 7.5 to 9 over a few days. I lowered the alkalinity back to 7.5 and the tissue grew back over a couple of weeks.
