Hi I know they need light and flow but my tank is mixed reef with Lps softy dominate.. Want to add a few sps and a guy here is offering a frag of purple monti cap... I'm worried that almost any placement will shadow my softies like devils hand, toadstool and stuff.

Is shadowing a problem with them? Should I avoid m cap or put it towards back of rock in a corner kinda? I want it but don't want to shade any corals lol

Shadowing can be a problem over time and mine grow faster than all my other sps combined. I have them on rocks facing the sides of the tank. Just plan on some growth before permanently placing and you could frag anything that starts to shadow.

What I do is I take a magnet and glue it on it and then I can stick it off on the side of the tank and it won't shade anything.
