Montipora recovery plz help asap.

Hi guys, i got a monti from someone, and it was in a bag for 4 days (in train), no light no flow. I added it to tamk last night, and i can see small poyps here and there.

However, when i saw the bottom, it was fill of polyps. Never seen montis having polyps at the bottom, and that too so many.

Will it recover? Is polyps on the backside normal?

If you see polyps coming out I wouldn't be too worried. As long as it's getting proper light and flow it should be able to recover. If it continues to die off, you can try fragging off healthy chunks and grow it back out from there but I would wait and do that as a last resort. As for the polyps on the bottom, if it was getting enough light reflected off the sand/bottom of the last tank it was in I believe it's very possible for polyps to be present on the underside but not sure since my caps are all white on the bottom heh. Some on here are really good at getting a lot from less-than-ideal pictures but for me it takes a lot of detail and it's hard to tell from the ones above. I can see pretty extensive bleaching on a couple of the plates but I can't see enough to really tell much for certain. If you do see polyps out and bouncing around, I'd focus on stability and give it some time. I'm sure many with a lot more experience than I will chime in soon enough. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

4 days is a very long time. any clue why it took so long? Anyway I agree with hyprc that if you see polyps it will likely be okay, just try and keep it happy with good light and flow.

Yea, i do see some polyps on the bleached parts also.

I have a red cap that I though was gone and it has came back so strong I have to frag it back:)
