Montipora setosa under only UV channels

I’m bored on a Friday night so I was playing around with the lights tonight. I saw something interesting under 100% uv and nothing else. Thought I’d share with you all!

I don’t think it’s grafted... but who knows! I picked it up from a LFS years ago, almost killed it off, and now it’s coming back.

I have a green plating monti nearby so I’m curious if it picked up some of the green from the monti cap. The green streaking is new and I just started noticing it about a month ago.
It’s a pink/orange color under normal lights.

venom infusion is a good name! To my eyes, it looks like a pink/orange swirl across the skin. Do you have photos of the green section?

That kind of "grafted" setosa is fairly common. It's seems either that specific strain has made the rounds, or setosa is more susceptible to grafting than other corals. Still a cool coral though!

Probably results from fusion of individual settled setosa polyps/planulae which subsequently grew as a subtle chimeric strain, a fairly common phenomenon for some corals.

I have a grafted setosa also that has now grown into a fist sized chunk and the green stripes are noticeable during the day time schedule (ab+) from what I’ve read online it seems Jason fox was on of the first to begin selling to consumers but that could be wrong that’s just the farthest back I was able to see this coral listed for sale as a grafted red setosa. Either way it’s definitely a beauty!
