I joined this site just to comment on this thread. I am blown away! I always thought large angels in reef tanks was an impossibility, but clearly you are pulling it off, with a Tridacnid clam nonetheless! Could you discuss more about this? How do you pull this off successfully?

Welcome!

Big angels dont eat sps. Thats a myth.
Lps and Zoanthus they might eat. Its induvidual. But count on it. Especially Acans and trachys.
Lobos are often fine.
Euphyllia works fine.
Mostly Caluastrea aswell.

So dont be afriad to have big angels in an sps tank!!
And clams works in 99% of the cases aswell. As long as they cant touch the foot.
And if the clam gets sick they often get eaten by fishes. Thats why People think it dont work. But if the clam is doing alright it shouldnt be any problem in most cases.

Small Angeles are often much worse tho! Flame Angel and coral beuty seems to work fine aswell

Very interesting. Last time I did a lot of reading about reef keeping was probably a decade ago (been focusing on freshwater planted tanks since then).

Did you have to go through a careful selection process with the angel to make sure he didn't pick at corals? Or just bought a random one from the store?

Today i got a new pump.
So i removed my old tunze. Koralia 4 and jebao rw8. All of them was on one of the short ends.
So i put an gyre 250 there instead.

Looks alot cleaner :)

Im having big issues.
Have had them for a while now but have now come to a nearly end.

Im thinking about dropping this hobby.
My acros are dying.
Lost another 2 the last couple of days.
Trying to find motivation but really cant. Yesterday i cried. Frustrated...

Icp tests are ok.
No pests.
Temp is good.
Light is good.

Now i lost my hyacinthus that growed from a frag to 50x30 cm. Had it for 5 years...

Now im out of booth money and interest.
Dont know how to proceed.

If u want to help me save my tank.
Utan can donate here
https://m.gofund.me/z47jukng

No funny update to make.
But im heartbroken right now.
Been in the hobby for 11 years. And this is the first time in dont know what to do.

Ouch.

So very sorry to read this ...

Can you detail the results of those tests? Is there _anything_ new in the tank, livestock or equipment?

Perhaps other eyes might see what yours didn't catch . . .

Really sorry to hear this! Your tank has been an inspiration to many. Could the problem be a build up of toxic metals in the your tank? This problem has caused the demise of many great reef aquariums when they reach a certain age. Hope you can figure out what's going on and get back on track? I know its difficult, but please try not to get discouraged! Maybe as Maritimer said someone on here can help?
