Can I use sand from a previous freshwater setup in a new saltwater tank if I clean it? I plan on mixing it with live sand but I really like the appearance of this jet black sand and think it would look incredible in a clownfish setup. Plus I already have ample amounts of it. If this is unsafe please say so I’m just trying to determine if it’s safe to use or not.

I would also like to add that though this sand has been in a cycled freshwater tank, it has never been with fish. I cycled the tank wanting to do a betta sorority and then upon my research decided that a sorority wasn’t in the best interest of the fish so I’m scrapping the idea and trying a clownfish setup instead.

Only reason i wouldnt is it tends to be slightly magnetic and sticks to the mag floats resulting in scratched glass.
