Moving help

Hello!

Just a question for people who have moved before. I have a 13.5G tank so not too big but I’m moving a short distance away and am looking for advice on the best way to “easily” move the tank and not induce too much stress on the tank.

I have 2 clowns, some snails/hermits, and a cleaner shrimp.

No corals.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I haven't specifically moved my tank, but I have picked up a tank that I purchased from someone else (75 gallon).
Since you're only dealing with some livestock and your tank is small it should be pretty easy.

I'd personally prep at least 10 gallons of freshly mixed saltwater at the new location so you can easily get your tank running immediately once you move everything over.
Then, get at least 2 5-gallon buckets with sealing lids. Used salt buckets or buckets from your local hardware store should work just fine as long as you've given them at least a quick rinse beforehand.

The first bucket will be for your livestock, just need water and your fish and inverts in here. You could wrap the bucket in a beach towel for insulation if you're concerned. I think you could also use a small cooler if you want something with more thermal insulation to keep temps stable.
The second bucket is for your rocks. You can also fill this bucket with water or just make sure it's covered with damp paper towels or newspaper.
If you have sand, it's your choice if you want to keep it or just use new sand.

Once you got everything packed up, take it over and re-set it up at the new place. This is where the fresh saltwater comes in handy to make sure you can top off your tank immediately to the correct level without needing to transport all the original tank water with you.

Great tips there.

Also something to maybe consider is adding half filled water bottle or something to these buckets so they don’t splash as much.

Sort of acts as a buoy/wavebreaker

Depends what a short distance is but if short, remove 80% water to brute garbage can and move the tank as is.

Replace water trying not to stir much up.

That’s the simplest IMM.
