Hi all. I am going to be moving a tank from a friends home to mine. It is kind of a last minute deal so not alot of preparing could be done. It is a 210 gallon with about 200lbs of live rock and about 3" substrate. I have a 150 gal rubbermaid stock tank that all the LR will go into once back home. I already have salt mixed and in stock tank, heated and circulating. Its going to take me a few weeks to get dispay tank set up, building stand, wiring, etc. I dont want to throw away all the substrate so I am going to rinse it and put in 5 gallon buckets with lids for the move. I do have a heated garage that my stock tank is in. Is there anything I need to do with the substrate? Also thought of opening lids and just setting the buckets in stock tank. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Dump the sand and replace with new. Especially that long. There's going to be a lot of nasties in the sand.

Any reason not to keep a few handfuls of sand to seed the new stuff?
