I'm a full time fire fighter at Redstone Arsenal, and a vol at Hwy 247 vol fire dept. I love what I do!!!!! I used to work at Shefield fire about 7 yrs ago. So how is the tank move coming along? If you need any help let me know.

Got starting taking down about 9:00 this morning. I was freaked out about the move and very nervous, but everything went fine. Took about 2 hours to get everything loaded up. I used ONE of the 55 gal. drums, because a lot of the water went into plastic totes to cover the rock. Its 3;30 ish and I just sit down. Everything is running, and I just put the rock in temporary. Its been pumping about an hour, and it has cleared up a BUNCH. I should be able to start placing the rock later tonight. Now I have my wife downloading pictures / ideas of how she wants to arrange the rock.

Everything went great "SO FAR ". The fishes are acclaimating in a big plastic bag. Only problem so far, is I cant find the SOCKS that go in the sump tank, but its running fine with out them for now.

This thing has probably cleared up 10 %; since I started this post. Will post some pics as soon as I can talk Momma into emailing to me.

I would dump the old sand but re-use the water may be about 75% of the original water and mix new water in, just my 2€ anyways. By the way welcome to reef2reef!!!!

I cleaned the old sand as much as I could within reason. Its less than 6 months old. He didnt have enough sand to suit my taste, so I picked up 20 lbs of live sand and mixed it in. After the rocks get moved to their permanent home, I have a about 10 lbs of FINE sand to do a little Sea Scape'n with.

So far .. everything is OK.. My salinity is high, but I kinda expected that after stirring everything up. I plan on daily water changes to gradually get it down.
Im not real familar with the characteristics of salt fish, but the Crimson Clowns are being a little shy, a the angel tang is showing off. and the fairy Wrasse is exploring !!

Awesome! Sounds like you got it done with no problems! Congrats, it's an accomplishment for sure!!!

Saturday 9:00 pm
Salinity OK......
Still a little cloudy
Have water sitting for 15 to 20 % change tomorrow nite
R/O will not hook up to fancy Moen faucets... :squigglemouth:
Fish seem Happy
Will pick up an adapter tomorrow after Church
Everything is going "TOO GOOD" kinda scary

Saturday MIDNITE.....
H E L P !!

I got the dreaded overflow Gurgle !!
I have been searching info for the past hour or so trying to figure out the problem.
Kinda sounds like there is air in the lines somewhere
The water level in the top of the sump is cycling ...
Everything seems ok.. except for the NOISE...

Anybody have any SECRETS

OK... Here's the deal.

Everything was working fine, and for NO reason.. I started hearing the Toilet Flushing sound.
The overflow is a "Aqueon" 3 stage job. According to the manual everything looks fine EXCEPT >>
The diagram shows a 90 deg. ell. above stage one, where the pipe goes in. AND >> It says to put the bio balls in the 2nd, but I have them in the 3rd chamber because the protien skimmer is in no. 2. I don't know the size of the pump but it KICKS BUTT !!

So maybe im not getting enough air thru the tiny hole in the header pipe ??
I tried raising and lowering the pipe that goes in the top of the over flow tank... but that did'nt help !!
Now im getting TICKED :choler:

Fixed the flushing toilet sound !! I disconnected the flex hose feeding the tank and stuck it down in one of the socks....... Unless somebody knows of some potential problems, its running quite.

Set it up YESTERDAY ! I just set the rocks in, because the water was too cloudy to see anything. Now that everything seems to be OK, I will probably do some rock scaping later tonite

Congrates on your move, looks like that has cleared up nicely. Keep an eye on nitrate and ammonia levels over the next couple weeks.

I have a Protien Skimmer, but I have been fine tuning everything else, and not started it up yet. Im still trying to re-coop from the move.
I plan on starting it up tomorrow afer work.

Monday afternoon >>

Fired up the Protien Skimmer this afternoon "BERLIN XL".
The skimmer is setting inside the middle chamber of the overflow tank.
Seems to be OK, If I can ever get it adjusted.
No matter how I adjust it, I cant get rid of the tiny bubbles in the aquarium ???
Wondering if it might help to lower the skimmer a wee bit.

Tuesday Night "DAY 4"
I think I got the skimmer working good.
Stilll getting a few tiny bubbles in the tank
I ordered some new socks to try to catch a few of um.
I also cut a piece of of left over pond filter pad and put in the skimmer under the down pipes.
Installed a wave maker.
Momma Clown fish "BAMA" Is doing a major re-decorating with the sand.

Have about stoped watching T.V. and just enjoy the fishes !!
