Day 5
I will stop this thread after a week... Just thought I would keep it going for anyone moving a system... and maybe learn from my mistakes.

Still no real issues. I added a couple of Anemones and Feather Dusters, to get a little movement, and to adjust the wavemakers. Currentlly there are 2 return pipes from the pump and I put a wave maker in the front corners facing each other. By facing them toward each other, I got more of a swirling motion and not just a constant stream.

I have been adusting for a couple of days on the protien skimmer but can not get rid of the MICRO bubbles. The skimmer is not collecting anything "YET" so I just turned it off until maybe I can get some good bacteria started. The filter media I placed under the skimmer drains did'nt help. The guy I picked the system up from said to make sure the RUBBER BAND ?? stayed on the inner tube on the skimmer, and I noticed tonight that it had broken and was laying in the bottom of the lower tube. Maybe I am not getting a good SWIRL in the tube now, which could have something to do with the bubbles.

Now if I can just find some good CHEAP frags !! I heard about a place near Huntsville that sells frags, so I may check them out this weekend.

Day 6 >>

Still no real issues or problems. Fish seem very healthy and happy. Water test and looks good.

Im a little confused about the water temperature. I have a 6 bulb full spectrum VHO light with a total of 324 watts. The unit has 4 cooling fans, but the water still heats up a good bit after the lights have been on for several hours. The temp gets up around 80 or 81, but can be at 74 or so, the fist thing in the mornings. I dont know it this is a potential problem ??????? I can probably get the heater regulated if I can control my patients.

Day 7
Guess ths will be my last post on Meet and Greet.... This one is getting a little boring. :nerd:

No problems !! Everything is still alive and happy.
Starting to get a little brown algae but will take care of it tonight with a cleaning and water change.
Got my R/O working .. except for a small leak on one of the fittings. I ordered new parts from Bulk Reef Supply.

Still have micro bubbles from the skimmer... but hoping they will get better or go away with time. Plus I have a new sock in the mail that may help some, and a few ideas ...
Watch for me on other post..

on the heat issue a small fan blowing accross the top of the tank will control that, and you might try and get your base temp up a few more around 76-77 that way if the tank is heating up to 81 it wont be such a huge temp swing threw out the day. the small fan should help keep the temp down and only let it raise 1 or 2 degree's

other than that looking good.

Thanks... I think I have the temperature thing under control... I was having trouble with the heater. The temp is now staying within a couple of degrees. Now I just need to work on the MICRO bubbles !!

ONE MONTH LATER !!

No major issues to date. Did a water change at week 3 and doing another today.. week 4
All my numbers are staying in range, just bump my PH up every few days.
Have had a Diatoms / Brown algae since first week, but nothing really nasty. Just have to wait it out.
Added a couple of small yellow tail damsels to help cycle and to see if they would survive.
I have had NO DEATHS so far.
Finally got most of the micro bubbles under control from the protien skimmer.
Added about 6 or 7 frags and everything is growing fine.

Now my wife is already wanting to buy more tanks and go larger.

WEEK 5 / BROWN ALGAE GONE !!

Thurs. night I added 8 big turbo snails, turned my lights off for 3 days, stoped feeding, and the DIATOMS "brown algae" is gone !!

Vochito, it's a bit late from me, but welcome to R2R! Why not post in the member's tank forum, you'll get a lot more viewers there plus participation. :) Also when are we going to see some pics of this here tank? :D

Sounds like things are progressing very nicely. I agree with Electrobes...it is picture time Sir!!!

Thanks guys... Im kinda new to the forum thing, but will post some pics in the members tanks area. I have been waiting on posting pics till things got all settled down and the Diatom was gone, etc. The tank is nothing special by no means but its enough to help me learn, and maybe move up later. Watch for some pics soon
