mp 10 w es

I have a 60 cube 24x24x24.Right now i have 2 koralia 4 with my mag 9 return.I have the Koralias on the back wall in the corners everything is doing great.Heres is my question would 1 mp 10 w es be enough flow in the tank?Dont really want to have two in there because of cost.

One MP10 will not do the job. 2 would be great. 3 would be delightful.

i don't believe the answer is that black or white.

a lot will depend on your aquascaping and the types of corals you are keeping.

imo, one mp10 could certainly be enough.

It does depend on what you plan on keeping. One would not be enough for keeping SPS. But if you were planning on keeping lps/softies it may cut it. I still would not recommend going with one because if it were enough if probably would be barely enough. If anything get a 1 mp40 or 2 mp10s.

Yeah i know there is no clear cut answer.I could always try one and maybe still use one of the Koralias for extra flow.Biggest reason i want to go with the Eco tech was for battery back up.Does anyone know if you bought a used Eco tech does the warranty go with the next owner?

I think one mp10wES would be sufficient. I have one on a 40B right now, and it creates quite a bit of flow. You'd be surprised by the flow a single mp10 can create.

I'm pretty sure that the warranty is transferrable. I doubt that the one MP10wES would be enough flow for your aquarium. I have two in a 65 gallon and a cube is harder. However, you would probably be good with using some Koralias to help it out until you can afford another. You might want to look at the DIY options to the EcoTech batter backup, they are much cheaper.

What would be the best placement of it?My rock formation goes up til about 6 inches from the water surface.Dont think i could put it on the side.Would it create enough flow on one of the back walls?

as long as 1 year is not up they will cover it "already been down that road" customer service is awesome!!!!!! no need for a receipt or anything it has a sticker on the back of the controller with the build date and if it's less than 1 year your good!!!;)
i would go with 2 mp10s honestly off a single battery back up iirc you would get around 8 to 12 hrs depending on the setting and speed you run....hth

What type of DIY are you talking about?

You can make your own using just about any 12V battery. Do a google search for "DIY Vortech battery" and choose which one works best for you. This one looks pretty good:
DIY VorTech Battery Backup

You can get the proper cables to connect to the Vortech directly from EcoTech Marine. They are currently only $1.50 each plus shipping since they had that issue with no having fuses on their cords several months back. Not sure how much longer they are going to have those.

You can also just look at getting a 12V UPS off of ebay or similar and splicing in the EcoTech cords. I have a pair of Belkin BU3DC001 Battery Backups that I plan to use, one on each Vortech. I just have been too lazy to actually get to it.
