looking to rplace my two koralia evos (750 and 1050) with an mp10. also have a quiet one 5000 for return
lmk what you think

Ive been trying to get a 20 or 40. Just a suggestion, there is no advantage to an ecosmart in our narrow cubes, if you can get a good price on a gen2 model, and don't mind no warranty, go with an older one. You won't miss the loss of 2 extra modes that require 3+ pumps to use.

I had two MP10s in my 60cube - one high right, one low left - and loved the flow that I had in the tank. One will give you a 'decent' flow, but I agree with everyone else, two will give you the best flow for the inhabitants.

I had two mp10 in my old 60 gallon cube and I didn't think it was enough. I also had to keep them at close to max so they were loud. If I were to do it again I would get one mp40 and one mp10.

I am the same exact boat. I setting up a new 60gl Cube in my kids game room and need PH's. Was thinking of (2) MP10's and (1) MP40. Giving the fact that I do not like my MP60's on my 180gl when they run at 100%....too loud. I may go with an MP40 to keep the noise down and have the flexibility to increase flow if needed down the road.

Any thoughts? Keep them coming........great topic.

I had a 10 on my 50 cube and it wasnt even close to being enough. I agree 2 pushing max would work or a 40. If you have sand you will have a hard time keeping the sand from blowing around. youcould go with 2 tunze 6025's.

You are right mojo...I am very nervous about sand blowing around. That is why I was originally leaning towards the MP10's, because the MP40 will definitely move some sand.

Do you happen to know what model Tunze I would need that would be controllable? I will search the web too, but didn't know off hand what Tunze I could use that would be controllable and a tweener sized pump to the 10 or 40?

Many thanks.......

I have a 60 gallon cube and run one mp-40. No problems in 3 years in a sps heavy tank.

Do you find it blows sand around? I have somewhat fine oolitic sand and that may be an issue. I am doing homework right now on the newer Tunze 6095 and it looks pretty slick too.

Any thoughts?????

I picked up a 60 cube the other day...I was thinking one MP10 would be enough. Glad I found this thread before I wasted my money...I'll be tagging along, thanks!

FWIW, since my last post, I added a single brand new old stock 20, it was plenty capable at 100% lagoon mode to replace two koralia 750's. I then upgraded it to a 40wES, and added a 2nd 40wES so I could run them in anti-sync, I have them setup to 60% in reef crest and the tank loves it. Twice a week for a few hours I run nutrient export mode thru a few cycles to really stir up all the detritus into my filter system and the tank has never looked healthier!
