MP10 Vs octo 2

Which of these two would be better to get looking for long term use and ease of function?

I’ve had both, I’d say it depends. Octo 2 is quieter and more powerful and you can angle it. Downsides, ended up being too powerful for my 34 gal cube even at lowest setting and Octo app is a bit clunky. I got the plus with the octo wifi controller. Perhaps the one with the hydros wave engine can be turned down lower ? I dunno. Mp 10 has been steady Freddy can run as low is 170 gph, however noticeable noise since the motor is on the outside of the aquarium, also Mobius app for Mp10 is better than the Octo app. If you have a 3 or 4 foot tank I’d say go with the Octo pulse if smaller mp 10. I’m still running the MP 10 on my smaller tank and probably going to try a Nero 3 or 5 next.

Thanks for the great advice! I’m getting a 50 gallon all one tank. Going to get the Hydro controller system. Do you think with the Hydro system, you would go with the octo?

It does seem with the MP10s it’s such a sleeper design with the wires being on the outside, so nothing is on the inside, easier maintenance. I don’t know how important it is to have that versus having everything on the hydros. This is my first tank so I’m learning.

I use a pair of octo pulse 4s with the hydros wave engine and really like the setup; more pattern, control and scheduling options than stand alone.

couldn’t say but the WE has more options than I’ll ever need.
