I picked up a pair of used mp40's and one works awesome the other just I just got around to setting it up today. Its spinning and clicking constantly. The spinning gets much worse with speed and the clicking is always present. I took it apart to make sure nothing in it and it was clean but the propeller spins very tight or hard or has resistance.. not sure how to describe it. Also former sailor so sry for the words, they come out and I don't even notice them till later. Easy fix or did I get shafted?

Couple of things to try.

If the propeller doesn't spin freely, calcium deposits on the shaft are a likely cause.
Give the wetside a soak with a mild acid solution (citric acid works, avoid vinegar.)
This will remove calcium deposits.

You can also try repositioning the wetside slightly while it's running; this can cause the clicking to stop.

Make sure you're using the proper size spacer on the dryside (based on the thickness of your glass.)

Also, with a used MP, you never know if it's suffered any abuse.
If the dryside has fallen off a tank and struck the floor previously, it could be slightly damaged.
No way to fix this afaik.
