MP40 in a nano cube 28?

Would an MP40 be too much flow for a NC28? I'm thinking of down grading and I have a brand new MP40 that I never ended up putting in my tank. I know I won't get what I paid for it so I'd rather use it. Please let me know if anyone think this will work or not. Thanks

I've seen 2 MP10s in a NC28 so I was hoping the MP40 would work. I don't know if I'd want to make it bare bottom. How much can you turn the vortecs down?

I've got a 28NC and a MP40.... just not together! lol.... it would probably work fine if you had it on the lowest speed.

honestly it would be a waste of a pump.would the store you got if from let you return it and buy an mp-10?you said it is brand new so im assuming you still have the box and receipt.

It's never hit the water and still in the box but I bought it acouple months ago so I don't think I can return it at this point. At least this way I still have it if I upgrade again in the future.

I think that it would be overkill, unless it was a ES model, and then maybe if you ran it on feed mode all the time. LOL, or went with a barebottom tank....

bah... don't listen to them. I ran an MP40 one on a BC14 for the same reason. The pump can be turned down to less than a maxijet, plus the flow pattern is wide. The bigger waste would be to lose money on a trade-in, obviously.

I'm going to try and sell the NC28 so that I can set up something a little bigger. I have both and they are both brand new, lol. If I can't sell it I'll give the MP40 a shot before I get rid of it. I'll let you guys how I make out, thanks everyone.

I've been thinking of upgrading one of my MP10ES's to a MP40 in my 45 gallon. Let me know if your interested in a trade plus cash or corals on my side. The MP10ES is only 6 months old and works great. I just want more flow in the 45 gallon for the sps.

FWIW I have a MP40W in my JBJ NC28 HQI and run it at lowest power setting. It is fine, but I might get rid of it, mostly because for a small tank even the wet side takes up too much room. I also changed the two return pumps to maxijet 1200's so already have a 21x turn over, they both run full time.
