I've got a 150 gallon display. It's been operating for about 9 months and doing well. I purchased 4 clowns from the same clutch and put them in quarantine (40 gallons). They all did well for two weeks, then two paired off and started attacking the other two. One was killed quickly--the other removed, and rehomed.

Wow.. well maybe I shouldn’t do that lol

I've got a carpet anemone and two bubbletips in the display (none of the clowns has gone into the display yet--the two remaining are in QT for another 10 days). I'm convinced I can't add any additional clowns of the same TYPE to the collection--what I'm wondering about is whether a different clown species, or even coloration, might be tolerated by those two. I'd heard what jerks clowns are, but didn't really believe it until now.

I have read having different species has been even worse than a harem of the same species. Never tried it though.

Different species will be as or more difficult.

Long term success of harems/multiples is best achieved w/ juvies from same clutch, and even then there can be some badgering or pecking off.
