Mushroom coral invasion

My tank has been overrun with these bright red mushrooms. They have taken all the rock space, which killed my urchins and most other corals. Looking for a fish or invert that would eat them. I have pick tip anemones with hosted clowns.

This is probably the most mushroom corals I have ever seen in someone's tank.

Probably not what you want to hear but I would sell those rocks to an LFS and start over with new rocks.

By the way, I kinda like the looks of all those mushrooms. How long did it take for them to take over?

About two years...

Looked better before!! All other corals dead now.

They were contained to a few rocks for a while and somehow they won all the battles for space.

Wow, that was an impressive takeover! I was imagining a less established tank.

I have a 300 gallon that due to neglect(been running 10 years)… I hate to admit….was overrun by thousands and I mean thousands of those mushrooms. A masked rabbitfish and a raccoon butterfly wiped them out in no time. Oh yeah, and the Klein butterfly totally wiped out the hundreds of massive aptasia. I am completely fascinated.

i don’t mean to sound condescending but how could you let your real estate get chewed up by those things? This is why we do weekly maintenance. Glass boxes need consistent maintenance to avoid that mess.

This happens to all sorts of people with anemones, or a dominant coral…..at least their ready to do something now.
