Fish Review 21:

Blue Star Leopard Wrasse
Macropharyngodon bipartitus
9E43AD93-2155-4317-8E7B-F560581F4DC8_1_201_a.jpeg

Appearance:
10/10
As a female this thing is absolutely phenomenal. Such a pretty fish!! Hopefully it stays a female.

Personality and Aggression:
9/10
Fun and non-aggressive. A little shy but getting bolder by the day! Really cool little gal.

Care:
4/10
It needs to eat a little a lot so should be fed many times a day. Also I got two and it seems like I only have one now so I can't give it high points. Notoriously sensitive.

Overall:
7.7

Long long overdue update:

Reef Tank:
tempImageW7pjn6.png

Stock:
  • 2 Clowns
  • 3 Benggai
  • Firefish
  • Foxface Lo
  • Midas
  • Royal Gramma
  • Court Jester
  • 2 Mandarins
  • Melanarus
  • Leopard
  • Red + Skunk shrimp
  • RFA's
  • Corals
Issues faced:
  • Survived cyano outbreak though I lost a briskest to it.
  • Had issues with an aggressive Falco hawkfish that recently attacked both the leopard wrasse and an orange spot goby. Killed a diamond goby previously.
  • Leopard was out for 2 days post attack but now has spent two days in sand. Hopefully OK. Goby is in other tank recovering though it lost an eye.
  • Hawkfish now in eel tank.
  • Had to remove all rocks to catch hawk thus the new look.
Overall:
  • Softies and LPS doing pretty well with some LPS and the pipe organ growing particularly well.
  • SPS growing slowly but for the most part seems alright. Monti and pavona doing best.
  • Algae is well under control right now but nutrients are high. Started dosing NOPOX.

  • Orange spot goby

Issues faced:

  • Neglect
Overall:
  • Used as a spare tank it shows. Thinking about tearing don and buy-in a new tank as this one is falling apart anyway.
  • Temporarily housing Orange spot goby so it can cover from injury.

Upgraded my lights a while back so it's now gone from two bands of fluval marines to one with two AI prime 16s. I'm already wondering whether I should have gone for the 32's but oh well.
IMG_5006.jpeg

Much more excitingly I've bought some plumbing equipment to attach my 45gal to the tank and use it as a giant refugium. This means I can remove all the ugly equipment from the main tank.

Its going to be a pain to move and I'm worried I'll lose al to of the millions of pods I've been breeding in there but once that's done I should have a much much better nutrient export as well as a constant stream of pods for my pod eaters.

In its juvenile form it isn't as pretty as it could be but hopefully will go up. The fins are still very pretty though.

Not spectacular at first but the bright orange eyes, the random blue dorsal spines, and the butterfly pectoral fins it really is a stunner.
