Helllooooo fellow reefers!! I finally figured it’s time to start a build thread for my corals and fish friends upgrade. I bought a used marineland 120g RR for a steal, came with sump, Skimmer, stand for $200. I’ve always been a fan of deep dimension tanks, so the footprint at 4’x2’x2’ is perfect for my liking! I’m scraping the sump and stand in favor of my own custom built ones. The tank itself needs a good cleaning, along with an internal seam replacement. Structurally the silicone is in great condition, it’s just visually unappealing with taters and some nibbles on the edges. Tank held water previously and I plan to water test after I replace the silicone for a couple weeks to ensure no leaks happen or are present. The skimmer is an older reef octopus 250int with psk2500 that was scraped for a replacement psk1000. The pump produces an insane amount of bubbles in my testing tank! The sump is going towards the triton method with a slight modification as I want a great place to grow pods and potentially segregate the aggressive fish if I happen upon picking one up. Return pump is a Reef Octo varioS 8 which will have PLENTY of flow for what my needs are and any additional reactors I want to run. Two finnex 500w titanium heaters run by an inkbird controller, coral box dosing pump, coral box qp-5 wavemakers, Tunze 3155 ATO, kessil a 160we and the rigid mounting arms with Kessil spectral controller. All new plumbing for everything and the equipment is moving from my current 75g to the new tank. The live rock, and sand along with new sand to give a deeper bed than the 1/2” I have now. The stand my grandfather( who’s is an amazing master carpenter of 60+years) and I will build. DIY screen net tops with 1/8” netting from BRS. Photos of what I’ve got so far to follow!!

Update for some work done today. Finished the sump mostly, all that’s left is to finish cleaning a couple spots, paint the edges up to the black trim, and water test this bad boy!! Cleaned the 120g and getting ready for the reseal on the interior of the tank. Cosmetic seams not structural ones. Photos below are the tank before! I’ll post the fully cleaned photos tomorrow or sometime during the week.
