I got back into saltwater after almost 10 years of being away. And picked up a 90 reef ready and after 2 months of running I hated it and started building a new set up with basement sump. So here it is.
It’s a 125 gallon DT with full length internal coast to coast overflow and an external box with bean animal drain down to my sump. My sump is in the basement along with a water station and a couple 10 gallon quarantine tanks. The sump is another 125 with a intake/skimmer/rock section and the other end is for a refugium. Intake section is made to fit 3- 4” round filter socks if I wanna run them. And I have more then enough room to do what ever I’d like in the sump now. I hate working in mine now under the cabinet, everything is so cluttered. And no more buckets for water changes.
It’s been a slow process build so far. Just trying to research how to do everything and then putting all the pieces together was a task to accomplish with 2 kids under 3. But I’m now test running water and waiting to get a break in my schedule to transfer everything over from my 90. Then I can start the stand/bookcase build.
