I have a question redarding the 2 'T' fittings where the water goes into the sump. I know you can use one to get rid of bubbles but why a T connected to another T?

it seemed to reduce the splash/bubble noise a little and also get the bubbles more toward to middle to reduce salt creep. i was going to put a street L on it but i had the extra elbow and not the 90 :)

Nice tank.
I love the cubes.. I have a question about Glass cages. How was your ordering experience with them. I have been planning on putting in a order with them for a large tank, but have heard mixed things from other reefers...

thanks
i had a good experience with gc - i know that is one of the most common complaints about them but they treated me well, answered my questions on the phone, and made some good suggestions
i would say be your own judge, check out a couple places and take your time - a new tank purchase is a very personal decision
volume, shape, quality, price.... all important choices

Great thread and photos John!

If you need more room, I can help. Give me 2 hours with your saw and the tank, I'll make plenty of room!!

how do you like your reef ocotopus? I have the extreme 200 with mesh wheel mod, man that thing makes foam!

i like it a lot - i have it set to skim pretty dark and still get about a 1/2 cup/day. been thinking of losening it a bit and skimming a bit lighter though. mine isn't modded at all, worked great right out of the box

yeah i know you could :) i've been thinking about what to start culling to make room for coral i buy at the frag swap, but i like everything i have. guess i have to get more fussy

nice tank, looks great

thanks

I have been thinking about setting up a Rimless tank. I just love them!

rimless is great but honestly the shape is what i love - 36x36 is an awesome footprint, you just can't beat the cube design when it comes to aquascaping, flow, and lighting. i would never go back to a rectangle

very nice setup

thanks

new fts really dark but i can't seem to get it right today

a couple changes
1) removed all shrooms - going to bring them to my school tank
2) trimmed and move the large blue tip stag it was getting too large to be in the middle. it is now high and in the back where it can grow without touching anything for a while
3) removed the tunze stream rocks - wanted to be able to control flow aiming better. they are now simply attached by magnets and i can create a better gyre pattern
4) had a small issue due to a pump going out and an ALK spike. lost some flesh on a few acros and had to chop up my aussie granulosa to save it from rtn, seems to be ok now. it was a weird event 3 or 4 corals suffered bad but the rest show no signs of stress at all. it seems that the ones that lost flow because of the pump were the ones that were effected by the ALK spike?? kind of an interesting correlation between flow and ALK
