Do you think it's even necessary if I'm doing water changes every 1-2 weeks? I thought about just getting rid of it because it takes up a lot of space in my tank and I want to move my big island to the right a bit more.
well you should do water changes when you need to do them by what your parameters are reading. If the skimmer isnt making much skimmate or its just light tea colored or more water then color , ya i wouldnt bother with it. I cant see it so you would have to decide

dont feed the corals pellets and dont use reef roids...or i promise you be sorry at a later date about algae out of control
Fair enough, I've had my fair share of algae after feeding reef roids. I only started feeding them right before water changes after seeing the mayhem but I started using reef roids less after I noticed a spike in phosphates.

This is what it looks like after 24 hours. Doesn't look too bad?

it doesnt look like its doing much....you could keep at it you want. Mine like balck oil and sludge but its all depends on the skimmer and tank. It certainly wont hurt to keep doing it. Are you running an auto top off to keep the salinity stable or just toping off manual every day

I would just feed your fish your corals and tank will be happy and before you start adding all the snake oil miracle in a bottle products just ask around first. Most that stuff just gets people in trouble

Good deal...and that will help with your skimmer not lowering the water from skimming

Thanks, I really appreciate the response and help! I think I'm just gonna get rid of the skimmer. I only got it in the first place because it was like $15 lol

Had a 20, loved it, but I see youre already prepping for a bigger upgrade, suggest keeping the 20 running as a QT for once the big one is rolling, had issues by not doing this myself - if I knew then what I know now.

I do want to upgrade in the future (maybe a couple years from now) but definitely not soon. But you're right, when I do decide to upgrade, a QT would be ideal. I also have a 10 gallon tank (empty) and thought about using that as a frag tank. Also thought about setting that up as a QT tank as well but I'd need to make some room for it.

I redid my aquascape and I really like how it turned out especially with the extra space on the sand bed in the front.

Coral placement isn’t finalized yet and I have to reposition my wavemaker now

I went to my first Coral Farmers Market Coral Show yesterday and picked up these!

It was $60 for everything which I thought wasn't too bad:
- $25 torch
- $10 chalice
- $15 hammer
- $10 zoas

Most likely no more corals for a while... I told myself no more corals after Black Friday but here I am 😂 (also picked up pocillopora, montipora cap, and favia a couple days ago from my LFS for $10 each)
