My 40 gallon recife build

Wow, those are very nice.....i like
There is so much personality in these corals, Sam7. I find them to be amongst the easiest corals to keep. If they seem unhappy, just spot feed em some shrimp!

I caught the scoly in feed mode midday today. I shot a few drops of oyster feast in and he turned into an alien.

Lol, Im trying to think of something relevant to add to the thread, so here's what I came up with.

One of my first corals was this ugly little hammer.

It grew and began to take shape but was stricken with BJD and was all but dead. Then my other hammers and torches began to show signs of the disease. My brother (from another mother) @Rocks reef sent me some cipro tablets, and I treated the tank.

I chose to do an in tank treatment since the coral was mounted securely, and removing it wasn't an ideal option. Complete success!

Ill be honest it was intimidating to add this to my whole tank, but I'm glad I did.

I dissolved a 500mg tablet in RODI water and added 3ml every other night for about a week, and it saved my euphyllia. Here's the link that I used to calculate the dose

I hope that if anyone that decides to goes this route will see this and realize it can work.

I will take this one from you 😀

If it gets any bigger, it'll have to go somewhere! This poor guy has been through the ringer. Im sure the gsp next to it is probably getting on its nerves, because it'll flair out and push it back.

Then there was the time it was electrocuted by a crazy lobo...

haha cool pics.....looks little mad

So nice of you to make an appearance on your own thread, @kingranch2003 .

Thats really killer looking
Thanks Sam, I won it in an auction for like $40 or so, quite a while back. If I had a bigger tank, Id probably have a dozen plates, they're just really interesting characters. I have it in about 125 par with mid flow.

Are these still fish you have? Do you plan on anymore?
1 Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse
1 Blue Sapphire Damsel
1 Yellow Damsel (he's a jerk)
1 Tailspot Blenny (maybe the coolest water critter I've ever kept)
1 Pajama Cardinal that was already in the tank

I was trying to think of something to post to my build thread, so thanks!

Sam, several months ago I had an ammonia spike. Im not sure, what caused it, but I think a snail stirred the sandbed too deep or maybe a dying coral caused it. Im not sure. I lost the Lubbock's, a Redfin Fairy Wrasse, and the tailspot blenny.

The yellow damsel fought everything I added to the tank. It didnt matter if it was a coral, fish, or a rock. So he uh... left the tank.

My wife had to rehome her pj cardinal, so I took it. My stock now is:

2 PJ cards
1 Blue Sapphire damsel
1 Halicoeres chrysus Wrasse ( @tbrown I hope you're proud)
1 Scooter Blenny

Various CUC

I have a McCosker's and Naokoa's fairy Wrasse on order at my LFS we'll see which one comes in.

Oh sorry to hear of the troubles with the tank and fish. Was that yellow damsel a ORA lemon? I had 3 of those little demons. They were hilarious to watch little trouble makers

Probably so. It was sold as a lemon damsel from my lfs. He would bury hermit crabs and peck at my little sand dwelling scooter dragonet.

One day I added some new corals and he immediately attacked them, burying some in sand, and toppling the others over.

Gotta go!
